36: Hayao Miyazaki
Watching a Miyazaki film is like getting a most comforting hug from someone you dearly love or a drinking a warm cup of coffee. It soothes your mind and your soul. It always makes way for quite a refreshing break from the demands of city life. It’s a temporary heaven, a refuge for weary souls, a momentary escape. I love how it always revolves around elements of childhood - those simple values and memories you bring along with you as you grow older - which most “adults” forget.
I would love to be in a Miyazaki wonderland. I would love to enter his mind and see his thoughts. I wonder if I’d get a hug from Totoro in there…

30: Totoro
For seven years, I was an only child. It would have been a relief had I been able to watch Totoro then. Growing up, the thought of someone looking out for me, someone both cute, endearing and terrifying (when needed) would provide more than enough comfort.
